Do not treat every charge pipe or vehicle setup as interchangeable. PERRIN explicitly says its charge pipe for the 2022-2026 WRX was designed and tested without required ECU recalibration. That is useful product-specific guidance, not proof that every charge pipe can be installed with no chance of a code, leak, or drivability issue.
Confirm the exact year, transmission, couplers, clamps, and adjacent intake/intercooler parts against the manufacturer's application and installation instructions. A poor seal or installation problem can create a boost leak even when the pipe itself does not call for a calibration.
If the car already has an ECU map, ask the tuner to confirm that the map matches the complete hardware and fuel combination. PERRIN gives the same all-modifications warning on its product page. Stop and diagnose a warning light, unusual fuel trims, boost behavior, or drivability change rather than assuming it is harmless.
A charge pipe can still be useful as supporting hardware, but power claims, emissions legality, and warranty consequences vary. Subaru's published warranty language excludes damage or failure resulting from modifications; it does not justify either a blanket promise or a blanket statement that all warranty coverage disappears.
